The best way for you to know what your insurance will cover is to contact them directly by calling the customer service phone number on the back of your insurance card. There is often a separate phone number for mental health or “behavioral health” services. When speaking with your insurance customer service, I suggest you ask the following questions:
- What is my mental health coverage for outpatient services?
- What are my rates per session- initial and subsequent sessions? Does my plan include coverage for family therapy?
- Do I need to meet a deductible before my benefits kick in and how much of this have I already paid?
- Are there any limitations to services (e.g., a limited number of sessions, etc.)?
As a courtesy, I am happy to look up your insurance coverage prior to our first meeting. I cannot guarantee that insurances will cover session claims that are submitted
